1st Newry (Earl Kilmorey) Scout Troop is open to boys aged from 10½ to 14½ years who want to make friends and widen their interests in ways that are both educational and fun - young people who want something different from the usual after school routine of games, homework and television.
Scout activities are about action, getting out and not just turning up at the weekly Scout meeting. It involves Camping, archery, hiking, shooting, pioneering, climbing, computing, putting exhibitions, cooking, lighting fires, district and county events - the list goes on.
Today there are over half a million Scouts in the UK taking part in over 200 activities from Abseiling to Zorbing. It's not just about putting up tents.
