Hi there, welcome to 1st Newry (Earl Kilmorey) Scout Group.
All children deserve a great start in life. I believe that scouting can help provide a sound foundation for all children through learning and growing in an inclusive environment, helping them to become positive members of society both now and in the future.
1st Newry celebrated its 100th Anniversary during 2010. Following further research we are sure that the very first Group founded in the town, during July 1908, was in fact 1st Newry. The group plays an active role in Scouting in Northern Ireland being a member of the South Down District Scout Council.
The Group has now around sixty young people who enjoy an exciting, challenging, and stimulating programme each week. The various sections all meet in the Scout Hall, just off Sandys Street, in the City of Newry.
The weekly programme is supplemented with other activities and events over various weekends to ensure the "out" in Scouting. Through these activities and events I know that the Leaders try to ensure that Scouting has a positive impact on the lives of our young people.
I am also aware that our dedicated and enthusiastic band of adult volunteers (11 Leaders, Committee Members, and some Parent Helpers) ensures that we are one of the foremost family-friendly Groups in the South Down Scout District.
All our Leaders are highly-skilled having been fully trained through the Scout Association's training scheme, ensuring that our members are safe and well looked after.
Even with the above band of Leaders we are constantly looking for more volunteers to help us out. Please do contact us and let us know if you can help. There's no better time to join the adventure. If you want more information on how you can help us or even if your son wants to join us please use the "Contact page" and we will get back to you..
1st Newry (Earl Kilmorey) Scout Group is waiting to hear from you.
